One thing many black hats don’t do is to take the time to become established on digg, or other social networks.
It’s a mistake!
Spending a few hours over a couple weeks making comments, friends, etc… will go a long way towards establishing the street cred you need when you release your own pages and sites that you want others to ‘notice’ or act on.
Here is how I do it (using digg as an example).
I create my account.
I digg NOTHING of my own – but I will digg other peoples stuff left and right. Don’t just concentrate on the big time players – do the little guys as well.
Make comments.
Friend people.
The benefits of this are many. It gives you a lot of links inside digg pointing to you (so your profile has more ‘link love’). It also has a lot of folks noticing you, making friends with you, and of course paying attention when you do post things that are digg worthy… and when they aren’t so digg worthy
It won’t take you long, and who knows – you could even come up with some good ideas while your at it.
This post is a start of something new — a little “experiment” in sharing if you will. I’ve spent about 200 posts giving you ideas – it’s time to give some back. Before I make another post I’ll expect at least 5 readers to give an idea about how to increase your ‘street cred’ on social networks!

This works very well on sphinn. I sell webmaster tools so I go where my customers are, and sphinn is one of the better social networks for webmasters.
Reddit is my fav. When promoting stories make sure not to get to many votes to fast and make sure the people actually click on the link to view the site you are promoting.
Also, make sure to get votes from various section “New” “Rising” “Category Page” etc …
(sigh.. I keep a list of popular sites/blogs, that has the reddit/digg etc tags on them. My script monitors google hot trends grabs the rss feed look for keywords. If found it submit the url and title using my username as soon as the new blog post is made.
Not exactly a street cred technique though.
What…. ! is a blackhat blog isnt it.
I hope this is the type of comment you were looking for: As far as online presence, I’m more social than techno, but I like both and am in the process of learning to have a plan or purpose in mind for my connections. Cagora is a new online community to me and bridges offline and online business. There are “worlds” both geographic and niche related that have a lot of possibility for connections and exposure.
As far as bookmarking, I like stumbleupon, occasionally digg, love Twitter, enjoy connecting various networks together, update using Ping.fm. Not sure if that’s a good way to do it, open to suggestions… best for now, Mary
I tend to use stumble quite a lot. It’s easy to get interest with a picture or something funny.
OK, I’ll bite. Go over to your favorite IM forum and PM your friends for a few diggs to your new sites. If you’re lucky, you get an avalanche out of a few well placed snowballs.

I like to use a combination of iAmplify and Merchant circle since they are both connected to my other Social Sites like Linked-in, Twitter, Facebook and a few others. Then I will place a review of a product or request a few questions to answer from the ‘Not So Tech Savvy’ and provide the answers to those questions from a couple viewpoints. Basic, Intermediate and advanced.
Another method I use is Contests and Surveys. With the prizes corresponding to the contest or survey topic with my info in it (IF I happen to use PLR, I make sure to edit it so that it portrays my writing style and input. but usually I will create my own report or video to supply).
