Wordpress and CPU usage.

April 23rd, 2008 Posted in Online Tools

A couple popular blogs put an article up today about wordpress and CPU usage.  Now every forum I log into is talking about how horrible wordpress is.

Well let’s think about what wordpress is doing for you:

Every page load is being logged, it’s figuring out your permalinks, pulling up the associated comments, deciding if the person is logged in, and then doing however much stuff you have plug ins for…. like related posts, popular posts, tags, etc…  It’s a lot if you think about it.

No excuse for whining though – there are great plug ins that don’t require you to be smart to use to fix the problem.  Wp-Cache is my personal favorite…. go use it before you have cpu issues.
