While this blog is called the “black hat digest” it’s really not all about being a “black hat” webmaster.  You see the term black hat seo refers to using everything you can to automate everything you can.

Makes sense in a way doesn’t it?  Think of it like a modern day factory churning out websites compared to what a skilled craftsman can do putting loving care into every ‘widget’ he is making.   If you compare what a factory can do compared to what a single craftsman can turn out in a day it’s pretty obvious who is going to make the most money in the long term (and short term).  Sure the factories goods aren’t as high quality as the craftsman, but they are still being bought left and right because they are cheaper.

To keep this little analogy going the skilled craftsman builds a website by coding each page from hand, taking time to get the navigation, graphics, and seo ‘just right’.  The factory workers are putting up 1000 pages for each of his.

At the end of the day the craftsman  has a page that’s going to get 1000 visitors, the factory has 1000 pages that are going to get 1 to 50 visitors a piece.

If you are new at this you are probably seeing things all over the place that you “THINK” you need.  Chances are you don’t.  Through out the course of this ‘digest’ I talk about a few ‘paid’ things I use.  You can skip that section or pick it up.  Probably the only ‘must have’ you need to follow along with me is a “black hat” membership at Niche Site Special 2…. and you can skip that if you can’t afford it.  Do some of the “newbie corner” stuff till you do have the money to invest in the things we talk about, use, and even NSS 2.
