Internet Marketing Tips

This new section on Black Hat Digest is all about those basics tips and suggestions that while they may be obvious to someone who has been doing this a long time aren’t really that obvious to new people.  If you are a pro already you won’t get much out of this!
Marketing things that aren’t yours!
Did you realize that there are a ton of places out there just filled with people begging you to promote their products, goods, and services and that they are willing to pay you for doing so?  Places like commission junction, linkshare, clickbank, and affiliate networks?
It works like this.  You drive traffic to their site(s).  When that traffic converts into a sale you get a cut of it.
Now normally I stress how important it is to stick with physical tangible goods – but I’m not going to get into the benefits of selling couches today :) If you want to learn more about that go on over to other98percent.com and grab a free membership.  Go through the 30 day guide here at blackhatdigest.
Instead I’m going to talk about how to market with clickbank because I see thousands of you doing it everyday, and doing it wrong I might add!
Clickbank is filled with “make money” products and while I do have an aversion to those myself, I can see the reason why you promote them (again please go through the 30 day guide so I don’t ever have to make a post like this again).  There are plenty of other things on CB than “make money” stuff.  There is software, how to guides, etc..    Go that route and think smart :)
So here are your Internet Marketing Tips:
You want to sell more clickbank products?  You have to step up your game a little bit and not do what every other CB affiliate is doing.
Step one:
Pick a good converting product.  Usually the products that show up in CB’s marketplace categories have the highest volume of sales.  Don’t worry about the competition…. they are probably doing it wrong too!
Step two:
Study the sales process for the product.  Take note of things, and feel free to pass on any offer that does anything shady like grab e-mails and what not.
Step three:
Create (or have created) a site template that mimics the offer you are trying to promote.  You want it to have the same feel and ‘taste’.  The goal of this page *(called a squeeze page)* is to squeeze the e-mail out of your visitors.  If you don’t have the skills (and I would outsource this myself) have a good designer code you up a squeeze page.  You’ve got to plan it out first though… and make sure you have all this for the person designing your page.
* See step four and have that report created first.
*Make sure you have a autoresponder ready.  Aweber is great but a little expensive these days.
Step four:
You are going to need to write a report, or a freebie of some kind to entice your visitors to opt into your newsletter.  Deliver the report as their first message… but the important part here is the opt in redirect.
Step five: The Newsletter Redirect
As soon as they enter their email, have it send them to a blank page that says something like
“Thanks for requesting the free report ’21 ways to feed your kids turnips’
Check your inbox in 15 minutes for the download link.   I can’t wait till you learn more about eating turnips!”
“Click Here if this page doesn’t redirect in 15 seconds”   <—–  This redirect goes to your CB affiliate link of course!
Step six:
Your newsletter is where it’s at now.  Alternate promotional content with actual informative content and watch those sales convert.  Keep following up.
Step seven:
You are gathering a list of people to market to who are interested in whatever it is you’ve got going on.  Make sure you send them info on other offers related to it.
Overview:
You pick a product.  You build a squeeze page.  You write a report.  You gather opt ins with said report.  You market to them until either you or they die :)
Rinse, wash, repeat!
There might be a few places you need to go to to get a little help.
In regards to more internet marketing  tips and CB questions I’d suggest Marketcrush:  http://www.marketcrush.com It’s a new forum and not filled with a bunch of idjuts yet.
In regards to getting design help/outsourcing if you need it I’d recommend either codebank or wickedfire.com  (don’t ask IM quesions at wickedfire).
