Today has been a rather long day.

It started off with a phone call from one of our programmers that he had been getting the run around (by me) on getting paid.

I was really surprised because my records showed a transfer and a payment made to him…. and I hadn’t talked to him at all in months through e-mail or phone.

Following the money trail it seems that for the last several months my assistant (of almost 4 years) has had some slippery fingers regarding money and resources lately.  In an effort to hide things from me he’s been deleting mail, answering as me, etc…  The problem is when you start something like this it snowballs and you get caught.

Not good and now we have our CPA and the police involved as it involves some large sums of money and of course my offline clients were very involved with Joel.   I’m going to be buried for the next couple days figuring out what is what.  Also I’ll have to replace and train Joel so if you are one of my seo clients billing will be scaled down this month.

It’s super important if you’ve emailed me or Joel and something hasn’t been delivered, you aren’t happy, you want a back massage, etc… that you drop me a line at   ( admin at stmadeveloper.com ) or just leave a comment here (won’t be approved and I’ll respond to you).

I’ve already found a few problems and am on them.  I’ll be working about 20 hours a day until everything is cleared up.

Tell your assistant that sucks ass.
I’m sorry to hear about it.

It’s going to be the police telling him at this point. Worst part is I would have helped him if he’d talked to me.

    Durrr!

That sucks, man. Sorry to hear about this & it reinforces my fear of ever letting someone else get access to my moneys.

Although I guess for people balling like you, handling all that cash is too much for one man to handle. ;)

    Good luck!

    Steve,

No different than a secretary having access to a checkbook really.

Happens all the time when you have employees. Sucks – but no way to handle everything we do on my own. Joel pays commissions, refunds, pays our vendors, and handles our content people.

He was pretty good at hiding it too – until he couldn’t anymore.
