Well one of the easier ways of getting indexed fast from digg pages with PR is gone. No longer can you just ‘comment’ in an old digg story and get a do follow link.
<a class="user" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIIpM-333bE&feature=related" rel="nofollow"> The rest of digg still appears fine - but if you've been using the comments for the do follow links you can't anymore
Wont the search engine still crawl the link, but not pass link authority? If so then you can still use it to get indexed fast.
Yes they will crawl it — but based on my experiment yesterday/today not so fast. Last week I could leave a couple comments in digg and be indexed same day.
So far what I commented on yesterday hasn’t had a spider visit.
Could be a few things — maybe the things I dugg were to old, and google hasn’t hit those pages yet, the domains could have issues, etc…. but the important thing to take from the post here is that they aren’t follow anymore.
… Google still follows and indexes nofollow links they just doesn’t pass juice, so yeh that trick will still work.
What was the PageRank of those pages? If they had lots of PageRank, they probably get spidered more often.
Or maybe Google’s just getting smarter at handling pages which aren’t being updated so often?
Figured I’d come back with a little update. I was indexed just from the dig comments I left the other day. It was nice when they were follow because we got some juice — but for indexing it still works.
Ack, now it’s nofollow (wasn’t when I posted earlier) – tried it on an article only 16 days old – any idea what the time cut off is?
