I’m sure you’ve seen a few e-mails about the riches to be had with local seo. This is true – there is a lot of money to be made with the local seo scene and it’s something we’ve talked about in the black hat experimental section as well as the changing affiliate world categories.

I’ve had a chance to review a few of the local seo products out there (one for $997) and I sure wouldn’t have been happy if I had paid almost a grand for them.

Some tips for those of you who went and bought them anyway.

You can’t hype the crap out of seo. It’s cut and dried. Put resources in – get traffic out. Limited to the number of people in their area looking on-line for their type of solutions.

Mom and Pop stores won’t pay you any damn attention if your ad copy screams like a make money at home type of ad.

Proof puts the $ on the table.

I recently sold a website to another auto shop locally. I walked in, asked to talk to the owner (who was under a car working). I told him I was a web developer and I had a local auto service website I was looking to lease out. I told him it was probably worth 10 more cars a month in his shop. His eyes lit up.

He said how did I know.

I handed him quote requests I had printed out from the last two weeks. There were 24 of them all with detailed descriptions of what was wrong with their car, estimates the customer had from other shops, make, model, year, and etc….

A few months ago I sold a contractor using the same technique. The guy showed up at my door asking if we would like him to build us a deck. I said hold on a second and give me 10 minutes. Printer went to town and I handed him 3 quote requests. Turns out he was buying a website that day and I wasn’t buying a deck.

Proof works with local seo when you are cold calling. Proof works when you have a client already (amazing how easy it is to sell other sites and services once you’ve proved you know your stuff).

It’s all really easy…. when you have the proof.

I’ll do some more posts – of course they will be in the “changing affiliate world” section. In the mean time don’t buy a “local seo” guide from any internet marketer. They don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to this. If it was as easy as the 1k course is telling you know one would work right?

    I appreciate your message…

I was thinking seriously about looking into doing some Local SEO work, but need to learn how, when Howie comes up with a sales page for his training (for way too much) with a video of him convincingly letting me know how easy this is, how I already know 99.9% more then the local businesses know about getting on page 1 of Google and testimonial videos of his students making $1000 – $1500 /month from a handful of clients. Gees! I could live on THAT!

And he went on to say that affiliate marketing is a lot of hard work, more work for less income, as I think you are pointing out here on one of your blog categories… which I will be also follwoing.

So I am interested in Local SEO for Seattle, and will be reading more of your stuff.

Thank Marc Norris for sending me to you.
