30 Days to a Kick Ass Foundation: Day 5 – “Tweak” the Day 4 Script.
On day 4 we should have our hosting all situated along with a few domain names. I also gave you a script in day 4 that let’s you “Geo-target” all the states and cities in the U.S. It’s a great script but it would be A LOT of work to turn it into a totally white hat site. As is – it makes a great foundation site to drive links to and to send them up to your white hat sites.
For my white hat sites I like to use a mix of static sites, wordpress, and niche things down even further. Once I find a niche that I’m doing super well at I’ll go back and make a top notch site as well… a “SUPER WHITE HAT” site.
For example my theme for this project is home improvement. I don’t want to do many “general” home improvement sites. There are enough of those out there to choke a chicken…. So I’m going to niche out from site one. I’ll cover small items that people need – appliances, air purifiers, solar powered lights, tools (by niches), etc… I think I’m going to do a lot of plugging in Ebay products, and amazon books as well. I’ve also dug through some of my affiliate networks and applied for some related affiliate programs. Things like sears, wholesale lumber, etc… I see ton’s of stuff to promote and I’m quite happy at this point with selection.
So for my white hat sites you could (depending on your skill level and the topics changed to your ‘niches’):
Install a wordpress blog (on a subdomain even) that will concentrate on “hammers” from sears. Bricklayers Hammers for example gets searches every month. It’s going to be pretty easy for me to drive thousands of links to this site over the next few months – so I’m pretty sure I can rank well. I’ll use something like wordpress for this one. It will give me the extra links, and I can’t find a small geographical region to concentrate on. I will have to do some research and find brand names and things like that (What do I know about hammers).
In my research into my keywords (home improvement) I discovered that there are a couple regions of the U.S. that search for Air Purifiers more than others. I also discovered that certain areas of the county are searching for “Green” construction and building materials more than other areas. So I’ll also make a small geographically targeted site to “sell” Air Purifiers. What we are going to do today is hack the heck out of the Day 4 script to just work for California’s cities. And I’ll take the time to add some unique content to a bunch of the pages. (a sentence or three, and a copy and paste ad from walmart’s affiliate program).
I’ve done this whole process on video – here is the link: (DAY 5 VIDEO LINK)(DAY 5 VIDEO download)
I used the ‘day 4′ script with some modifications that I’ve shown you how to do in the video. Nothing major – but you could take it a step further and replace the “states” with brand names, and the “cities” with products. This is how you can micro target your white hat sites – and still cover a broad enough area to be happy. It’s fast and easy to do, and you can be as “good” or as “bad” as you want. Like I mentioned earlier – the script is only as ‘white hat’ as the effort you put into. As is – it’s a great little grey hat tool to make a lot of pages fast.
Time for you to get busy and make some of these ideas your own. Hopefully you getting busy doing something like this:
–> White Hat <—
Your “white hat” sites should be up. Even if for now they are just a page or two big or a single state or topic using the script I gave you. These sites should be on your “white hat” server or hosting plan.
—> Grey Hat <—-
Using the script I gave you ‘as is’ you should make a few dozen sub folders, or domains. Link up manually or use the command center from NSS2 to control your linking. Your foundation sites should be on their own server or hosting plan seperate from your white hat or black hat sites.
—>Black Hat <—–
We really haven’t gotten into this aspect yet… and trust me we are going to. For these first few days I’m moving very slow, but before we can start churning out black hat sites (you can even use the script I just gave you for them) we need to get our white hat and grey hat sites indexed and getting some attention. This is your first network and let’s do it right.
Day 6, 7, and 8 I’m going to cover a variety of ways to build up links fast, and from a variety of sources.
