Aftermarket — selling your stuff.

When you are throwing up sites fast and linking to them – well sometimes you need an influx of cash to buy that server, or get a bunch of domain names.  If you’ve been working hard for a few months and just want to take the ‘honey’ out for a night on the town – here are some places where you can turn those sites you made pretty fast.

(Since your sites should have some revenue, traffic, and links – they should sell nicely)

  2. dnScoop Marketplace: Sell your domain on this marketplace, and take advantage of its in-house valuation tool.
  3. Domain Marketplace: Sell your domain names with natural traffic, one and two word generic terms, and strong traffic on Domain Marketplace.

  14. Experiment: Selling a Domain Name on eBay, Part 1: eBay isn’t considered to be one of the best places to sell your domain. Nonetheless, this domainer’s willing to give it a try. Learn about his experience here.
  15. SnapNames: Get 30 day advertisement and an auction with lots of exposure as well as easy payment and transfers on SnapNames.
  16. Tulip Domains: Put your domain up for sale on Tulip Domains, and you’ll get offers via email that you can accept or reject, with a 5% commission to Tulip Domains.

Note – not my list – the credit goes to a post by seo_mike on wickedfire – but he found it from Jessica Hupp.

I’d like to add a few more places though.

- sitepoint.com’s forum.

- to other98percent.com members (there is a spot in the forum)

- me :)   (Seriously. If you’ve got some content and some links going – hit me up since I might be interested).

Sites usually sell for about 6 to 12 months revenue – but content does count for something as well.  If you have a lot of content that has value as well.  Experienced buyers know that a new site isn’t going to have ‘kick butt’ revenue and will ’sometimes’ pay a premium for a good site to round out a network.

Trends, ideas, and content.

When I’m looking for a new topic or product to break into sometimes I get paralyzed by the research phase… sometimes I can’t even think of a topic to get started on.

I’m sure it happens to everyone so here are some ideas to help you out.

Google Sets and Google trends are a great way to get a small list of words and topics from.  Check out google trends – then move onto google sets.  Once you have those 12 or so topics it’s time to head over to Wordze.

Another great place to get started (and possibly find some content or learn more about the topic) is alltop. I bet if you spend a few minutes in there you will get some ideas.

Your competiton is easy to beat!

April 24th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Newbie Corner

I just got done a 30 minute talk through MSN messenger (thank god for the audio – I hate typing more than I have to).  Anyway the discussion revolved around how this guy has been trying to game google with cloaking, and bunches of other stuff.  Basically all VERY Black Hat with no foundation or white hat sites.

He’s been busting his rear and has nothing much to show for it.   He spends time developing (scraping), cloaking, etc… and blam – gets banned.

I talked to him about my methods, and why I talk about things the way I do.  But it all comes down to one thing.  Your white hat sites NEED to be better than the competition.

Use Wordze to check them out or use a bunch of the free tools out there.  Find out where they get their inbound links then do the same thing and then some.  Basically if you outlink them, and out optimize your site – you are going to win once you pass the age thing  (chances are their site is older than yours).  There are some ways around this as well.  I covered that here.

Anyway – this is where your growing network is going to come into play.  You have a lot of places to drop links and get some fast juice happening right?
