Black Hat Digest – Research Revistited.

February 29th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in 30 Day Website Network, Newbie Corner

I have to come back the research phase AGAIN.  I’ve had dozens and dozens of questions and they all come down to the same dang thing:  “what do I do?”

Well, I can’t tell you that – but some simple research can.

That’s where tools such as WORDZE comes in.

Here is what I recommend doing (and pretty much what I’ve been doing lately).

I first go to Google Labs and go to the “sets” tool.  It gives me more concepts than I could think of on my own.

http://labs.google.com/sets

Using that tool helps me find things I didn’t even know about.  For example they show a set of examples about dances.  I could name 3 or 4 different types of dances – but not 30 or so like it spits out.

THAT GIVES ME THE WORDS TO GO TO WORDZE WITH.

Analyze the competition, see what the top sites are ranking with, and what you need to do to break through.

If you just have an ‘idea’ and haven’t checked things out a bit like if the market is going to be tough to break into, if there are any searches for it, or if it’s just a silly idea your wasting your time.

I know wordze isn’t free – but while there are some ‘free’ tools out there to help you – they don’t give you such good reports and data… and they take longer to work, or your going to 4 different sites.  Time = money :)

30 Days to a Kick Ass Foundation: Day 6 – Squidoo

February 29th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in 30 Day Website Network

Squidoo should absolutely be part of your overall link building campaigns. Since they take all of 5 or 15 minutes to set up and you can put links in several places it’s an easy place to get some attention.

It’s also coming off a PR 8 site (squidoo.com) so it’s very easy to rank for the terms your going for.

Eric talks about squidoo quite often in the other98percent.com forum – and he is our main “squidoo” person on our team. He has several hundred lenses and makes affiliate sales everyday.

You can use squidoo to make money as an affiliate – but you should also be using it to send traffic and links to your foundation and white hat sites.

A winning lens has these things:

  • At least 5 moduals activated.
  • At least 20 (40 Allowed) tags.
  • Belongs to a group or two.
  • Has been submitted through Bookmarking Demon.
  • Links to YOUR sites via direct links or through the rss modual.

That’s it guys – it only takes a few minutes to get your lens in the top few thousand for any topic, and you will start seeing traffic in just a day or so. Note: They are reviewing for spammy lenses – but it’s easy to make a ‘real’ lens in just a few minutes.

Come to the other98percent.com forums if you need a hand, or to find some buddies over there.

30 Days to a Kick Ass Foundation: Day 6 – Kaboodle

February 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in 30 Day Website Network

Today I’m going to talk about one of the newer kids on the block and I think it’s going to be bigger than Squidoo eventually.  It’s called Kaboodle – and it’s a social web 2.0 site that is totally geared up for women.

In fact my Wife signed up for me today:

http://www.kaboodle.com/fyalways

I’m not suggesting that you pretend to be a women again – that would be wrong, but let’s just say my wife does a lot of social sites for me.

So here is what your going to have to do to make Kaboodle work for you.

Create groups, join groups, make lists, participate.

Whew…. damn that’s all a lot of work.  Suck it up.

Why?  Because it’s your sites, your products, and your links that your building up from a trusted site.

Spend a few minutes for each of your sites, creating a profile, creating a list, or adding to an existing profile there.  The more you tag, the more groups you join, the more incoming links – the better you are going to do.

So how can you “game” this?    Here is a great example…

http://buildwithblocks.com/

It’s nothing fancy – just a wordpress blog with some lego products.  Just took lego products from an affiliate program and put posts about them up.  To promote this one with kaboodle it’s a matter of just going to each page and clicking the little button that kaboodle gives you.

Once you create or join a group you can even put in your affiliate links directly.

Is it worth working? Yes.
